Goosefoot violet, Viola purpurea is a native violet that has yellow flowers, found in the high desert of Central Oregon. It has ridged oval leaves, which resemble webbed goose feet. The flowers on green stalks arise from the leaves and have bright yellow petals with purplish undersides. The yellow petals are maroon-veined, which are thought to be nectary guides. The species grows in dry soils at high elevations from northern Washington to Northern California.
